Learning About Nutrition through Activities
Stepping Stones is working with the Minnesota Department of Health and implementing LANA (Learning About Nutrition through Activities) into all Preschool / Kindergarten Readiness programs. The goal of LANA, and of Stepping Stones, is to promote preschoolers' consumption of a variety of fruits and vegetables by providing more hands on classroom, take home and family activities.
Our teachers have received special training from the MN Dept of Health and have developed customized materials for our center. We will launch LANA on Sept 6, with the start of our new school year.
We've adopted this program because it ties in very nicely with our philosophy at SSELC; from our onsite chef, Steve, who freshly prepares our meals, to our class gardening projects. LANA will allow us to reinforce the healthy choices we talk to the kids about each and every day. The lessons are fun and it is amazing how much kids learn from hands on activities!
